Saturday Morning walk

Kristy made us walk this morning. So I got the dogs up at 7 and fed, then I made Dan get up and have breakfast (fed). Got the water and snacks ready and we were off by 8:15 to Redbud Park. Did our mile and watched the Prairie Dogs, which we really have to watch Rhowdie with as he, twice, tried to jump over the brick divider. Poor dog got pulled back each time, that must have hurt.

At home, Jaeger decided that he will stay in the car and he wouldn't come out until I had snacks in my hand...what a dog!!!

MayBee drinks from the bottle...

...so does Jaeger!

It is fun to throw the snacks in the yard and let the dogs find them. Jaeger catches on a lot quicker then Rhowdie does.

Husbands search for the Wii!

So, Dan has been looking high and low for a Wii as I wanted one, they weren't to be found anywhere. We checked just about everywhere in Abilene. (They do sell like Hot Cakes on eBay!) We always were told that they will come in a UPS truck and the stores have no idea when they were getting any, just check back and maybe we'll have one. Well, today Dan went to Best Buy and checked, right after 4 when the UPS delivered. And look at that...they had a display with holes already in it and two were picked up while Dan was standing there looking at what he was buying. Well, he came home and didn't even tell me he had one. Just let me keep wanting! After our company left and I was going on the computer again in search of that elusive Wii, here he comes in with one in his hand!!! HE GOT ONE!!! So, while dinner was cooking we unpacked it and set it up. Read instructions while eating and then we went at it...now do you think he would have let me have a turn??? We did both play for a little bit. But then he started boxing (we only have one Nunchuck) and then he just kept going on on his charade! After a few games I finally decided that that was enough. After all, he was the one making fun of me because that is what I wanted, and he didn't even know what all that thing can do! So, after I went into a sulking moment (hah, my mom will love that one), we ended up golfing together...now, I don't care for golfing, but guess what, it is kind of fun to do, even though I was worse then Dan, but only because I told him what all the other little things on the screen were about. So then we take a "Fitness test" well...I can't play baseball!!! Never have played it in my life, here I am at bat! Bowling...that is a disaster as well, my balls bounce in real life just as they do on that darn game :-) And don't even get me started on Tennis, and I did actually took some lessons. Now, I wasn't all that bad and did hit more then half of the 50 balls. Also, Dan got to watch me and then he played later! I came up to a fitness level of 80 years...hey, no more cleaning house for me :-) Dan's said 52, then something dropped from the sky, moved that number out of the way and made him 64!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you should have seen his face then!!! It was so funny and I had a good laugh!

So, here is Dan having fun playing Tennis agains the computer...not me, but we have played against each other before!
Best of three (Well, guess who did not win... :-()

So, is it fun having a Wii in the house? So far yes, I just have to get that 80 down to something more managable, on the other hand, I can use this to not have to do anything else ever again, as when someone is that old they don't have to do anything but enjoy live...right? Well, it was worse a try LOL!
More on this tomorrow. Have to go to sleep now, we're all done for tonight...and I'm taking the dogs for a walk at Red Bud early...8 am...where is my coffee???

Swimming Season

Yes, it's this time of the year!
And it's more fun with friends.
Hey, Lion, wartest Du schon auf das Schwimmbad?
Rick was ist mit Dir? Kommst Du auch schwimmen?
Bringt nur Eure Badesachen mit :-)
(Psst, Molly, even with your eyes closed you are not invisible...sorry) :-)

Look at these girls...practicing for the Olympic Synchronized Swim Team!

Good Morning Dogs!

Here you go...the wild dogs in the morning. They will come to me for a quick pat on the head, but then they know Dan is waiting for them to go outside and get breakfast...what is more important to animals? Human companionship or food!

Well, here you can see it, it's FOOD!
These dogs love to eat...and Rhowdie is always hungry.
See, the dogs starring on YouTube!

And here is the car my brother drove this time, of course we could have used the pick up truck to take all the trash away. But then, the Suburban did well!

Finally the Gardener shows up!!!

So the Gardener was here! What a relief :-)
Got my brother to help with the garden work and look it works.
All the bush's got trimmed, no not the humans, just the plants! All that vine pulled and all the trimmings have been taken away.

Hey, I did help...have the blisters to show. Just no body ever takes pictures when I work :-)
Then we went shopping, stopped at Blockbuster for some movies...watched The other side of Jericho, made dinner -BBQ ribs & Shrimp Scampi - now Dirk is packing and we'll watch the next movie! What a life :-)
Three movies no need to rent...wait for them on TV, or they are already on TV??? The other side of Jericho; 3:10 to Yuma; and The Flock!

Eating the Gorgonzola Cheesecake!

Did he like it?
You'll have to watch the Video...

May 26, 2008

Okay, here is the Cheesecake Fiasco!

Watching the last episode of Top Chef the one lady made a Gorgonzola Cheesecake. I said to Dan I had to look up that recipe as it sounded interesting. A few minutes later the phone rings and Jason is on the other end. I knew right away what he wanted and this weekend we made it!

So, here we are stirring the first pots! Grapes are boiling on the back burner. I am stirring the sugar and water, and Jason is working on the Gorgonzola and Whip Cream

Next Jason gets to poor the caramel sauce out to cool.
He thinks the stuff is interesting looking, and he dips his finger in the middle, it is already hardening at the edges. Well, he was surprised when he burned his finger!

Then we have to break the Caramel and chop it up with the walnuts.

Well, we are almost there! All the stuff that needed to be pureed, has been pureed! We decide to run to the movies first and see the new Indiana Jones movie, just to find out that the shows at 6:30, 6:45, and 7:00 p.m. are all sold out. We buy our tickets for the 9:30 show!!!(can I even stay up that late???)))

Back home we pack up Jason's car so he can leave early tomorrow, and then we go ahead and serve our 'dessert'! Now we can't just serve it without decorating the plates. As I don't have any fancy plates as they do on Top Chef my everyday dishes will have to do.

Here is our master piece!

And, yes, we will be eating it, but first one more picture while we are healthy, and then we'll video Jason while he takes his first bite...you'll have to stay tuned for that video blog tomorrow! :-) As the saga coninues!

May 25, 2008

Our Sunday, part one!!!

So we decided it was time for some Kebabs! The recipe I found was for from the Family Favorite Kebabs from the Taste of Home Magazine.
Yesterday Jason and I cut up all the meat and the vegetables, cooked the potatoes, made the marinade and Dan got to cut the fresh pineapple. All got marinaded over night.
Today I put all on sticks, Dan got to grill the Kebabs and some Feta Cheese, and it all got served with fresh baked German bread! (Thanks for the makers of the Bread Machine). As I had bought way too much food for just the four of us, (Dan, his mom, Jason and me) I invited Richard and Kristy over also.
In the middle of eating we thought that we hadn't taken any pictures yet, and Jason got the camera and clicked away.
The Kebabs!

So, as I said before, there was plenty for the six of us with food leftover, and I actually followed the recipe this time :-)
Dessert was a Apple Walnut Streusel Cake...yumm! Want some Tiffany?

Tomorrow, read the saga of the Gorgonzola Cheese Cake!

Rhowdie Blog!

Jason thought Rhowdie needed a shave, so that is what he is doing :-) Poor Dog!!! And not only is it his first shave, their was a Thunderstorm heading this way and Rhowdie is so afraid of them, guess he thought it was nice that all three of us were keeping him company out there.
Now I am wondering what he'll be doing the next time we are having a Thunderstorm, will he ask to come in or would he want us to come out and play with him...we'll see next time!
Before the Shave!

During the Shave!More shaving has to be done today to make the dog presentable!

Memorial Day Assembly

We had a Memorial Day Assembly and invited the military community. Dan did come to hear the band, choir, and orchestra honor the Red, White, and Blue!
Our Kids ROCK!!!
The Gym is filled when we do this, it is so great to see the kids be sitting still and listen when we have a speaker, they showed respect! We do have over 900 students, that says something!

Just the Dogs

Dogs at play...or something like that :-)
Rhowdie doesn't know when to quit!

And Jaeger likes his string!
And good Chocolate Cake! Sorry, Dan ate almost all of it already!

May 17, 2008

How did I spend my Saturday?

Listen to a book on tape, then head on to get a pedicure :-)
Then on to Starbucks for a coffee...try out the new iced coffee!
After a rest at home it's off to the Grand Opening of the James Avery Store (Dan didn't get lunch so he had to come along and have some refreshments here), and then on to brave WalMart or we won't have anything for dinner and lunch tomorrow :-)
Back at home I made a chocolate cake (new recipe, it's baking now) and back to listen to my book before the check out expires! I'll let you know tomorrow how the cake turned out...maybe with a picture to make you hungry!

Happy Mother's Day! Zum Muttertag!

Es ist Muttertag und ich wuerde gerne in Deutschland sein und mit meiner Mama feiern, da das nicht geht poste ich hier mein Geschenk fuer Mama, eine Karte mit allen Kindern!

It is Mother's Day and I would love to be back in Germany and celebrate with my mom, but that isn't happening, so here is my tribute to my mom, a card with all her children!

First there was Norbert, then, a few years later there was me, Kirsten. Dirk just wanted to be in our circle also (we still don't know where that Blondie came from). Next was Reinhard, what a Rascal that was, and we were complete. But, as I always wanted a sister, I got what I wanted...even if I had to wait a long time for her, but she came. (Why did we ever want her??? :-))

Hier bin ich mit meiner Mama. Here I am with my mom.

The Big Day!

Today was the game between the City All Stars (our students made it) and the brave faculty, very brave! We had faculty cheerleaders, but the kids drowned them out :-(
At halftime there was a presentation to our Custodian Steve for whom we have been fundraising the last couple of months - remember the Madison Fiesta last weekend? Well, we raised over $22,000 for him! Way to go!
Then we had our Lawn Chair Dance! What a hoot...want to see it? Click on the arrow below ;-) and don't get too excited!
