Doggy Splash Day!

Today was Doggy Splash Day in Abilene's Rose Park and Jason and Tiffany came with Maggie all the way from Edinburgh to have some fun.
We paid $2 per dog...people were free!

Jaeger with his life vest! Ain't he cute?
It was Tiffany and Maggies first time. Checking out the pictures they must have had fun...even though all three dogs don't really want to jump into the water and they found out how to get out real quick.
Maggie, Jaeger, Rhowdie with Tiffany and Jason.
Maggie trying to climb out of the pool.
For more pictures you have to come back later and you can check out Kristy's blog to see what she has written! Eventual there might be something on YouTube.com also...but I have to sleep first :-)
Untill then you can check out the link for KRBC and see who they featured on their newsstory tonight!

Saturday Morning!

So, after three or more hours of storm last night (early morning) this is what I found at 10!!! Not one of the guys (all three of them) moved!!!
They didn't even move when I took the pictures...yes, they put their heads up, but when they realized what I was doing they went right down again.

Now, Dan would not have liked me take a picture of him, so I didn't...I can be nice! And he just got up...11 a.m.! Hey, I have to give him credit, he was up most of the time with the dogs. Jaeger really doesn't care about thunderstorms, but Rhowdie does.
It really was the worst storm we have had in a while. It even woke me up for about half an hour, then I went back to sleep. But the thunder was something different...it kept going on for ever and right above Abilene. The pool is overflowing, so we had quite a bit of rain also.
Dan just made the dogs go outside, those poor things. We'll have to let them back in in a bit as there must not be any dry spots out there.
That's all the update for right now, might be more later if anything interesting is going to happen :-)
And here is the report from the local TV station...5 inches of rain!!!
Flooding And Fires
Saturday, August 16, 2008 @10:00am CST
Reported by: News Desk
Early morning thunderstorms brought torrential rains and fires across the Abilene area. Up to 5 inches of rain fell over portions of south Abilene and Taylor County from 3:30am until 9am. Flooding of a number of streets, low water crossings, and county roads is occurring. Lightning struck the roof of the Abilene Women's City Club on South 14th Street starting a portion of the building's steeple on fire. The fire was put out quickly and damage was confined to a room on the second floor. Lightning struck a home on Brantley Circle just south of Chimney Rock Road, causing a portion of the home's chimney to crash through the roof of the home. The debris narrowly missed people who were sleeping on a sofa in the living room. Fire believed to have been caused by lightning destroyed a home north of Buffalo Gap on Taylor County Road 337. No flooding has been reported along creeks in Abilene, although they are rain swollen. More rain is expected later today.

More from Vegas

So we went to the old strip in Vegas and there they perform a light show every night. We didn't know that, but Bob took us and we enjoyed it. Of course it is better if you watch it in person, but this is pretty good also and you can get a taste of it.

Las Vegas

Arrival in Las Vegas...

...these creatures greeted us @ the airport!

Our room!

You can't see the whirlpool tub - behind Dan and in front of the little wall,

or the toilet and shower, on Dan's left!

View from the room with the Flamingo in the back, and
pool in the front!

Walking the strip! Caesars Palace.

At the old strip is this bar with the aquarium, look close, there is a slide through the aquarium for the swimmers. Yes it is a bar with a pool!

Golden Nugget Casino on the Old Strip! Dan with his two buddies from the olden golden days!

And here is a Gold Nugget someone found in their
backyard...six inches down...with a metal detector!

Inside the Paris Casino/Hotel it looks like the sidewalks of Paris, France!
We ate breakfast at the Cafeteria/Buffet style, all you can eat...way too much food!

Flamingo Pool area. We came by here all the time so we had to stop and take a picture!

Here is our pool area...connected to the Flamingo pool, we could use either one, but the Flamingo was way to crowded! Before the wedding we decided to rest for a while and have a drink...can you see me? Dan had to go back to the room for the VISA card and took pictures of me sunning. The close up will stay hidden :-) (We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club @ the Flamingo)

Caesars Palace - look who is always fooling around!
Dan met up with friends he hadn't seen for 40 years...yes, they are all getting up there in age!

Here is the gift I was going to bring for Kristy...

...sorry, the $1,500 price tag forbid it :-(

The reason we came here:
Bob and Lee Ann's Wedding!

Me in front of New York, New York!
We are on our way to the Mandalay Bay to see the Broadway musical "Mama Mia". It was great and we enjoyed it tremendously! Now we have to go and see the movie also!

Dan on the bridge overlooking the Strip, with the MGM Grand and New York New York!

Playing the slots trying to win the car! Hah...these are the 2 cent slots and we would have to pay the max to win the car...we don't even know what the max is :-)

In front of Excalibur Casino...don't let
yourself be fooled, this is a big place!

The Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand...yes, they actually have people walking around the lion exhibit!

One more stop at the slots in the Airport...jack pot!

Happy 4th Birthday Rick!

Rick has a birthday today and here we are showing off how well he can ski-jump on the Wii-fit!
The first jump took him 50 meters, and he was disappointed, the second took him 53 meters and he celebrated! Go figure!
I have another videoclip which I will have to post later today, as I am just too tired to wait for the download now.
Zum Geburtstag viel Glueck!
Und hoffentlich bekommst du bald ein Wii damit du weiter ueben kannst!

And checking through my videos I found this one!
Lion has loved walking around taking videos of many different things we did so I am always surprised to find stuff that I don't know about. This was one of them. Aren't they sweet when they sleep?!
