Books I have read this summer...(updating as I read them)

...besides Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I also read these books:

  • I'd tell you I love you, but then I'd have to kill you by Ally Carter (I liked this spy novel for teens)(Texas Lone Star)
  • Gideon the Cutpurse by Linda Buckley-Archer, the first of a Trilogy and I didn't like it too much but it gets better the more you read (if it wasn't a Texas Lone Star I would have not finished it :-()
  • Born to rock by Gordon Korman (you'll have to get into it and read it yourself)(Texas Lone Star)
  • Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima (another first in a trilogy and not that interesting...but again, a Texas Lone Star)
  • Do not pass GO by Kirkpatrick Hill (very interesting book and a Junior Library Guild selection, I liked reading this one.
  • Summer Ball by Mike Lupica (another one with a message if you are into that)
Now I am reading Black Tatoo by Sam Enthoven (Texas Lone Star) have the first part finished and need to read two more. So far I am hooked but it is a dark book with lots of killings :-(

Went to see a movie with Dan yesterday, No Reservations, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (now you know why Dan came along) a cute love story with no bad language or any sex. Go see it. It is a fun movie. Lets see what Dan will take me for next. Guess it will be up to him, maybe The Simpsons movie :-( Well, have to go to whatever he drags me...then it'll be my choice again :-)

For now, back to Black Tatoo - just finished this one last night...it is not one of my favorite books...just too weird for my taste, hey Jason, maybe I can interest you in that one?!

The next book I read was
Notes from the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick...now here is a book that was sweet, romantic, laugh-out-loud funny, sad, and gave you a lesson in life. I did like this Texas Lone Star book and think it might be my favorite this year, we'll have to see how the others will measure up!

Adding books as I read them ~ all the Texas Lone Stars:
  • Shackleton's Stowaway by Victoria McKerman - based on the true story of Shackleton's Antarctic exploration on the ship Endurance. It is a long book to read if you are not interested in exploring the South Pole, also gruel as they had to survive anyway they could. Enjoyed reading the end of it where it tells you what actually happened in the poeples further lives.
  • La Linea by Ann Jaramillo - interesting story, it will draw you in.
  • Shug by Jenny Han - well, let's see if the boys will read this one...too sweet for them to read :-)
  • Home, and Other Big, Fat Lies by Jill Wolfson - didn't know what that book was about until I started reading. It is well written and from the point of the child it really brings her ordeal out. Of course I didn't know it was a girl until a few pages into the story.
  • Runaway by Wendelin Van Draanan - another homeless book, but interestingly written as a journal.
  • Avalon High by Meg Cabot - well, it starts out as one thing and leads to another. Interesting concept though.
  • Airball: my life in briefs by L.D. Harkrader - book about a boy who doesn't want to play basketball and somehow signs up anyway. The rest you have to find out for yourself :-)
  • Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass -I actually liked this book. I won't tell you anything about it, but read it and see what you think. Then think about your definition of the "meaning of life"!
  • Black Duck by Janet Taylor Lisle - if you need to read up about the prohibition era you can do it here. A story about the rum-runners and their boats.
